Focus and Scope
The Journal has a dual emphasis and contains articles that are of interest both to practicing information technology professionals and to university and industry researchers. In particular, it encourages papers that report on activities that have successfully connected fundamental and applied research with practical application. The journal thus publishes papers relating to both emerging research and to professional practice.

Peer Review Process
Papers are submitted to the Editor-in-Chief, who will normally pass the paper on to an Associate Editor. The Associate Editor will decide if the paper is likely to be suitable for publication in this Journal and if appears to be, it will be formally evaluated for accuracy, originality and relevance by at least two referees. The refereeing process may take up to six months, and occasionally longer.
Publication Frequency
The Journal of Research and Practice in Information Technology is published quarterly. Until 2000 it was titled the Australian Computer Journal, and has been published by the Australian Computer Society continuously since November 1967.
Open Access Policy
This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.
